AC Milan did not sign an out-and-out striker during the summer window, and they are eyeing a Real Madrid man to potentially fill that role.
Milan were linked with many strikers during the summer window, from Rasmus Hojlund to Dusan Vlahovic. They were believed to be close to signing two, namely Victor Boniface who failed a medical with the Rossoneri, and Conrad Harder who chose RB Leipzig.
Santiago Gimenez remains the only true centre-forward in the squad, and while he broke his duck in midweek against Lecce in the cup, it came after his 19th shot of the season. Over the summer his future seemed uncertain too, amid talk of a swap deal with Roma for Artem Dovbyk.
Gonzalo Garcia: On Milan’s radar
According to TMW, Milan’s real target for January remains a central defender who can enhance the team’s quality. The rest is tied to Gimenez, who is showing more promising signs.

Regardless, the Rossoneri are also tracking Real Madrid’s Gonzalo Garcia, who scored four goals in six games at the last Club World Cup. His use in LaLiga has been very limited so far, given the amount of attacking options Xabi Alonso has.
Milan’s directors are hoping to try agree a loan deal with an option, although it’s unlikely that Los Blancos would be open to such a formula. That said, recent operations show that relations between the clubs are good.
