AC Milan and Inter are both eyeing the same goalkeeper as potential replacements for Mike Maignan and Yann Sommer respectively.
According to TMW, the summer window might have only just closed but these next few months will be crucial for understanding some clubs’ strategies for next year. The Maignan issue is one of the hottest, but keep an eye on what could happen at Inter with Sommer.
The feeling is that both could leave at the end of the season, which is why Inter and Milan are considering potential replacements. In this sense, a Milan derby ‘is looming’ with Elia Caprile is one of the players being monitored and is highly sought after.
He’s not the only one, as Alex Meret’s name is also worth considering despite his recent contract extension with Napoli until 2027. However, Vanja Milinkovic-Savic’s presence could gradually change the situation, so he remains a possibility worth considering.

Moretto’s words
Matteo Moretto – in a video on Fabrizio Romano’s YouTube channel – gave an update on Maignan’s contract situation and he gave some worrying news.
“[…] Currently, the parties are far apart regarding a renewal. Maignan’s contract expires in 2026; he’s 30 years old, and the parties haven’t resumed talks regarding a possible renewal. The situation is currently completely at a standstill.
“There are those within Milan who suspect that Maignan, starting in January, will decide to reach agreements with other clubs on a free transfer. The more time passes, the more this idea is gaining traction.”
