Tomori insists derby win won’t get to Milan against Lazio: “Heads down and hard work”

Ahead of tonight’s clash between AC Milan and Lazio, Fikayo Tomori spoke to DAZN and explained how the Rossoneri can build on the important win against Inter.

The derby win has undoubtedly improved the Rossoneri’s mood, as well as their Scudetto chances, but another important game awaits tonight. Lazio have started the season fairly well and Massimiliano Allegri’s men will have to continue their positive form in big clashes.

Speaking to DAZN, as transcribed by MilanNews, Tomori shared his thoughts on how Milan can build on the derby win, rather than letting it hinder them. He also spoke about the defence, which has been a key ingredient for the Rossoneri this season.

What kind of week has it been since the derby?

“Heads down and hard work. Yes, it was a good match for us, but it was just a match. We still have to play more to improve and finish the season where we want.”

Are you getting the hang of duels? Are you both pushing each other, both as defenders and as a team?

“Yes, of course, not just us defenders but the whole team. We’re not conceding goals, we have strong forwards who can make the difference in front of goal, and we want to keep that up tonight.”

Tomori is starting alongside his usual partners Matteo Gabbia and Strahinja Pavlovic in defence, with Mike Maignan guarding the net. All four of them have been in very good form lately and Lazio might struggle to break them down.
