Tomori looks ahead to Arsenal friendly and new season with Allegri: “The feeling is different”

AC Milan defender Fikayo Tomori has preached the importance of bouncing back after a difficult 2024-25 season.

Allegri has had just shy of two weeks with his new squad at the Milanello training complex, and on Saturday they flew out for the Asia-Australia tour. With double sessions aplenty in the Italian sun, the tour will be another step forward in preparing for the upcoming campaign.

One player who will hope to catch the manager’s eye is Tomori. The Englishman hasn’t been as consistent since the Scudetto-winning campaign of 2021-22, yet it is believed that Allegri is a big fan of his qualities and he started the first ‘friendly’ against Milan Futuro over the weekend.

‘We’re adapting’

Tomori spoke alongside his head coach Massimiliano Allegri at a press conference to preview the first major friendly of the summer against Arsenal in Singapore, and MilanNews relayed his comments.

How important is it to rebound after last season?

“Last season obviously wasn’t a good one. We obviously want to do better, we’re working hard and preparing for next season. We’re very happy to be able to play matches here.”

What has it been like with the new coach so far?

“Every coach has his own ideas on how to defend, how to attack, how and when to press. We’re adapting to Allegri’s requests. The feeling is different than last season, and we want to be ready to get good results.”

Do you know Arsenal?

“I know English teams well, they’re tough to play against. We’ll have to stay focused.”
