AC Milan will sign a top-level striker in the summer window, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport journalist Marco Guidi.
The ongoing physical problems that Christian Pulisic and Rafael Leao were battling saw Milan agree a deal for Jean-Philippe Mateta with Crystal Palace worth €30-35m. It seemed that the Frenchman would be the big signing on deadline day, then it all suddenly stopped.
At the same time, there continued to be reports about Christopher Nkunku potentially leaving the club, despite the fact that his form since the end of December has improved quite a bit. The likes of Fenerbahce and Roma were linked, but he ended up remaining despite being unsettled.
On his YouTube channel, Carlo Pellegatti hosted Marco Guidi, a journalist from La Gazzetta dello Sport. He spoke about the future of Milan’s attack, and his words have been transcribed by MilanNews.
“I think that regardless of Nkunku’s future, a striker will arrive at Milan, so it’s not tied to the Frenchman. While this connection could have been made in January, a striker will arrive in the summer,” he said.
“I think it will be a high-end, top-quality arrival. I think that when Milan signed Gimenez, they hoped he could be the centre-forward of the future. I believe a profile will emerge.
“If you ask me about Nkunku’s future, after yesterday’s interview, I’d say he’s staying. He doesn’t seem like a player who wants to leave. It’s also true that we can’t ignore the fact that part of the management were seriously considering selling him in January.”
