Tottenham and Arsenal both keen on former Man United star amid £87m rumour

Tottenham Hotspur could make a move for a former Man United midfielder in the summer, but a deal will be difficult for the Lilywhites to complete.

Spurs strengthened their midfield with the addition of Conor Gallagher in January, and the former Chelsea man has made a bright start to his time in North London.

However, reports indicate that Tottenham were also exploring adding another progressive midfielder to their squad in January, and having failed to sign such a player, one would expect the club to prioritise that in the summer.

It has been claimed by a number of sources over the last few months that a Napoli star is on Tottenham’s radar, and it has now been claimed that Spurs could make a move for the player in the summer.

Tottenham could battle Premier League giants for Scott McTominay

Scott McTominay has been linked with a move to N17 after the midfielder transformed his game since his switch to Napoli.

The Scotland international played a key role in taking Napoli to the Scudetto last season, and his stock has continued to grow over the course of this campaign.

A report in AreaNapoli has now claimed that Tottenham Hotspur are indeed fans of McTominay, but they may have to battle their North London rivals, Arsenal, for his signature.

Additionally, it is suggested that Man United could look to take the 29-year-old back to Old Trafford at the end of the season.

Napoli have a clear stance on Spurs target McTominay

Area Napoli claim that the Serie A club are aware of the growing interest from the Premier League in their midfielder and they are keen to tie him down to a new contract.

The Neapolitan club will meet with McTominay’s agent to finalise the renewal at the end of the season, and are willing to build their squad around him.

It is asserted that only an offer over €100m (£86.8m), which could potentially arrive from Saudi Arabia, would shake the Italian club’s desire to hold onto the former Man United man.
