Tottenham Hotspur will be breathing a sigh of relief after the latest developments in Hamburg regarding Luka Vuskovic’s injury.
Vuskovic keeps putting up astonishing numbers for Hamburg on loan this season, and his consistent displays at the back are one of the main reasons why HSV look on course to remain in the Bundesliga.
The Croat has been tipped to be a starter for Tottenham next season, with Spurs fans excited about the potential the 19-year-old has shown in Germany this season.
However, the Lilywhites may not have been too pleased to hear what HSV were planning to do with their prized asset.

Hamburg said they are willing to risk Tottenham starlet Luka Vuskovic despite injury
Vuskovic suffered a knock in his knee, which kept him out of the club’s 4-0 defeat at Stuttgart last weekend, and reports indicate that Tottenham’s medical team are in contact with Hamburg about the centre-back.
A report in Bild (as relayed by Sport Witness) claimed on Friday that the Spurs youngster has not trained with his Hamburg teammates this week.
Instead, Vuskovic has been ‘receiving treatment’ for his knee and has been doing individual rehab sessions in the gym.
However, concerningly for Spurs, HSV boss Merlin Polzin suggested ahead of the game that the club may risk the teenager, given the magnitude of the game.
Polzin is quoted by Bild as saying ahead of the Werdner clash: “Luka is continuing his rehabilitation. I remain optimistic. We’ll do everything we can to make sure he’s available before we leave. He came back from the international matches two or three weeks ago with a few minor niggles. Even just one training session was enough for him to play a great game.
“We’re trying everything. We’ve been able to gradually increase his workload. We’ll see how he’s doing after Friday’s training session. Given the importance of the game, we’d take a small risk. But it shouldn’t be without reason.”
Relief for Spurs as Hamburg opt against risking Vuskovic
It is unclear whether Tottenham got in touch with Hamburg regarding the youngster after Polzin’s comments, but they will be pleased with the outcome.
Vuskovic is already valued at over £50m, according to reporters and the Lilywhites certainly would not have wanted the youngster to risk a serious injury.
Spurs fans will be relieved that the centre-back has not been included in Hamburg’s matchday squad at the Weser Stadium this afternoon.
