Tottenham fitness against Atletico Madrid raises big Thomas Frank question from Ramon Vega

1 hour ago 49

Ramon Vega has posed a pertinent question about Thomas Frank after seeing Tottenham deliver two impressive performances back-to-back under Igor Tudor.

Following Spurs’ thrashing at Atletico Madrid last week, demands for Tudor to be sacked were growing extremely loud, but the Croat has managed to silence critics with a draw against Liverpool and a win over the La Liga side in the second leg.

Despite having an extremely depleted Tottenham squad at his disposal, Tudor managed to coach a gritty, defensively disciplined display at Anfield and a front-footed and adventurous display against Atletico.

For the first time in what feels like ages, the home fans got to witness Spurs taking the game to the opposition and creating plenty of chances on Wednesday, with the home side good value for their 3-2 win on the night.

Ramon Vega questions how Tottenham did not sack Thomas Frank sooner

Tudor was pleased to see Spurs click into gear in attack, suggesting that the hard work in the training field over the last month is finally starting to pay off.

It was the improvement in the fitness levels of the Tottenham players which caught Vega’s eye, with the former Spurs defender questioning how the Lilywhites persisted so long with Tudor’s predecessor.

Vega wrote on X: “How did we not sack Frank earlier! These players are already looking way fitter.”

Have Spurs turned a corner?

It is one thing to come away with a gritty draw against a Liverpool side that is not playing at its best, but to follow that up with an accomplished display against Atletico shows that the former was not a fluke.

Tottenham need to win at least two of their four remaining home matches if they are to stay up, and the team showed that they have the quality to hurt the opposition.

Should they play with the kind of intensity and attacking intent they showed against Atletico, the home fans will get behind the team and make it a tough place for opposition sides to come.

All focus now shifts to the big clash on Sunday as the Lilywhites hope to take advantage of their momentum and register their first league win in 13 matches.
