Son Heung-min has confirmed he will not be leaving LAFC on loan this winter despite being linked with a host of top European clubs.

The South Korean superstar, who left Tottenham for the MLS in August after 10 years in north London, has been at the centre of intense transfer speculation over the past month.

The 'Beckham Clause' is a mechanism written into the contracts of MLS players which enables stars to facilitate short-term loan moves during the off-season.

The MLS season is formally concluded in December and the 2026 campaign does not get back underway until late February.

With league approval, players are therefore allowed to sign elsewhere on short-team deals to maintain sharpness and fitness levels.

In October, AC Milan and Tottenham were both linked with reported loan swoops for Son but he has now made it clear he will definitely remain with LAFC.

He told South Korean outlet Chosun: “Many people are curious. The rumours themselves are uncomfortable. Fans must also be confused. My belief and mindset have always been that giving my all to the team I am playing for is most important. The rumours are not true.

“I have never once discussed moving to another team during the winter. The mere mention of such talks could be disrespectful to LAFC. I can confirm it is not true.”

Son also added that he intends to use the break to recharge ahead of next summer's World Cup where he is poised to captain South Korea at his fourth finals.

He continued: “I am focusing on recharging during the winter and preparing for the World Cup. I want to create the best possible conditions to prepare for the World Cup. I hope such rumours do not resurface. I respect and cherish the LAFC club.

“Leaving the team I am playing for to join another is itself an adventure. I could get injured. Devoting everything to the team I am with is respect for my mental health, physical health, and the team’s fans. It is the most important thing."

LAFC are back in action on November 23 when they face Vancouver Whitecaps in the Conference semi-finals after the international break. The Canadian outfit finished one spot above third-place LAFC in the final Western Conference standings.

Son's side also recently beat Austin FC in the MLS Cup play-offs and he's currently racked up 10 goals and four assists in 12 outings for his new employers.

Last month, the 33-year-old also outlined his plans to return to north London during the off-season to bid a proper farewell to Tottenham supporters following last season's Europa League triumph in Bilbao.

Son is in the South Korea national team squad for their upcoming friendly matches against Bolivia and Ghana.
