Tottenham Hotspur may have to move fast if they wish to sign Kobbie Mainoo after the latest developments regarding the Man United youngster’s future.
Many outlets have said that Spurs are set to reignite their interest in Mainoo after failing to get a deal over the line for him in the summer.
It has been suggested that Mainoo is keen to leave Old Trafford in search of regular game time, given that a spot in England’s World Cup squad is up for grabs next summer.
Tottenham face plenty of competition from around Europe for the Man United man, and one club appear to have now stolen a march on the Lilywhites

Serie A club pushing to beat Tottenham to Kobbie Mainoo’s signature
According to a new update from TEAMtalk, Napoli are now ‘aggressively pushing’ to land Mainoo on loan in January.
The Serie A side is willing to cover the midfielder’s £45,000-a-week wages in full and insert a purchase option in an effort to tempt United.
The report says that Mianoo’s exit from the Manchester club is thus ‘edging closer to reality’, with Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis being persistent in his efforts to land the youngster.
Given the success that Scott McTominay has had at Naples, the Italian club is convinced that another United midfield outcast can achieve similar things at the Diego Maradona Stadium.
What is Man United’s stance on Mainoo?
TEAMtalk say that Rubem Amorim views the 20-year-old as ‘essential depth’ to his midfield and is hesitant to sanction a departure.
However, the outlet explains that United are facing a difficult choice as they could alienate Mainoo by denying him a January transfer, rather than selling him and funding a midfield rebuild.
A senior United source told the publication: “If Kobbie goes, the door swings open for a new arrival – Ruben won’t lose a body without gaining one.”
