According to a fresh update, Tottenham Hotspur have not abandoned their pursuit of Eberechi Eze yet, but a move to Spurs is no longer the Crystal Palace star’s number-one preference this summer.
Around two weeks ago, it was widely reported that Tottenham had emerged as the favourites to land Eze after the 27-year-old expressed an intention to move to N17.
However, some sources reported around a week ago that Spurs have backed off from a deal for Eze and their reason for doing so is not clear.
That perhaps has something to do with the fact their fierce rivals, Arsenal are now showing a keen interest in Eze, although they are not thought to have held advanced negotiations with the Eagles for the player yet.

Tottenham remain interested in Eberechi Eze but he wants to join Arsenal
It has now been revealed by The Beautiful Game Podcast, who regularly have some of the biggest transfer experts on their show, that Spurs remain interested in the former QPR man.
They also confirm that the Gunners are big fans of Eze, with his England teammate, Declan Rice, giving a glowing endorsement of the player to Mikel Arteta.
They reveal that the Palace star prefers a move to the Emirates over the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, having supported Arsenal growing up.
Why Spurs appear unlikely to make an offer for Eze
It has been widely reported that Tottenham are now pushing ahead with a move for Mohammed Kudus, who is expected to leave West Ham sooner rather than later.
Additionally, reports indicate that Heung-min Son has informed Spurs that he wants to stay at the club this summer, and is expected to do so at least until January.
It thus appears unlikely that the Lilywhites would spend what could be a club-record transfer fee on another winger this summer.
