Tottenham star is seen as perfect long-term signing by Real Madrid and PSG

Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain are big fans of one Tottenham Hotspur man, but the North London club have made their stance on the player very clear.

Following the departures of Harry Kane and Heung-min Son, Tottenham do not have many world-class players in its squad.

However, two who would definitely fit into that category are their centre-back duo of Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven.

Romero signed a long-term contract with Spurs in the summer, and it has been widely reported that the Lilywhites also want to tie down Van de Ven to a new deal quickly.

It appears that they cannot do that fast enough, as the interest in the Dutchman’s services is now growing.

Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain want to poach Micky van de Ven from Tottenham

A new report in TEAMtalk has now claimed that Real Madrid remain keen on Van de Ven, with the Los Blancos’ interest in the centre-back described as ‘genuine’.

The 24-year-old’s blend of pace, aerial dominance and ball-playing ability has made him an attractive target to the La Liga giants, who see the player as a long-term successor to their ageing defensive core.

With veterans like Antonio Rudiger and David Alaba nearing the end of their careers, it is said that Van de Ven fits the profile of a modern, versatile defender who would fit like a glove in Xabi Alonso’s system.

Madrid’s scouts have been impressed by the Tottenham star’s composure and his ability to pocket top-class forwards, but they are not alone in the pursuit.

PSG are also described as ‘long-time admirers’ of Van de Ven, having been fans of him since his Wolfsburg days. They are now monitoring his situation closely as they dream of pairing him with Marquinhos at the back.

Spurs are resolute in their stance over Van de Ven

Despite the growing interest in the centre-back, Tottenham remain resolute in their wish to hold onto him.

The club view Van de Ven as a world-class defender and a symbol of their project under Frank. In fact, sources close to Spurs insist that they have ‘zero intention’ of parting ways with the Dutch centre-half.

However, the outlet warns that Spurs may have to qualify for the next Champions League to avoid losing the Netherlands international, who has ambitions to play at the highest level consistently.
