Tottenham boss Igor Tudor is without 13 players through injury, illness or suspension as his side takes on Liverpool in the Premier League, with a makeshift defense starting the clash.

Guglielmo Vicario returns in goal after Antonin Kinsky's calamitous display in the Champions League midweek that saw him get substituted after 17 minutes. Tudor tried to switch things up but that definitely didn't work.

Pedro Porro, Djed Spence, Kevin Danso, Radu Dragusin and Souza line up along the backline. Pape Sarr and Archie Gray, with Richarlison, Mathys Tel and Dominic Solanke, the former Liverpool striker, up top.

"No Romero and Palhinha out," Tudor said in his pre-match press conference. "Micky [van de Ven] is out.

"Yves Bissouma has a problem and Conor [Gallagher] has a fever but we hope he will be OK. Always something happens. It's very rare and I've never seen this in my career."

Destiny Udogie should be back for Tottenham's relegation six-pointer against Nottingham Forest next weekend.

But he isn't back in time to play Liverpool and will miss the return with Atletico Madrid too.

Also sidelined through injury are: Wilson Odobert, James Maddison, Dejan Kulusevski, Rodrigo Bentancur, Mohammed Kudus, Ben Davies and Lucas Bergvall.

Center-back Micky van de Ven, meanwhile, is suspended after picking up a red card in his last outing. He was poor midweek but the absence of the Dutchman and Romero leaves Spurs very light of options at the back.

"Tough, for sure," Tudor said. "Not just because of the last game, but because of the period.

"It's not an easy situation and not easy moment. It's a big challenge to change things.

"Like everything in life, you can choose how to see the situation. You can cry or you can fight. You can be the victim or you can change something. This is the message I communicated to the players. The bottle is either half empty or half full.

"Those who stand up with the courage to change these things will become better people and players afterwards. I said it's about all of us. Not about all this bull ----."
