Tottenham Hotspur want to raid Nottingham Forest for a centre-forward this summer, but their chances of completing the deal may depend on the events that unfold at a Bundesliga club.
Tottenham’s lack of quality in the final third has plagued them since the start of the season, with the situation not being helped by the injuries the club have had.
Spurs are yet to replace the goalscoring quality of Heung-min Son and Harry Kane, and one would expect the club to prioritise adding reinforcements to their forward line if they do stay in the Premier League.
It has now been revealed that the Lilywhites may be about to turn to a player who struggled to make an impression in his six-month spell in the English top-flight.

Tottenham set their sights on Nottingham Forest striker Arnaud Kalimuendo
According to a report in Fussball Daten, Tottenham are eyeing a summer move for Arnaud Kalimuendo, who is impressing on loan in Germany over recent months.
Kalimuendo, who joined Forest last summer from Rennes, struggled to get much game time at the City Ground in the first half of the campaign, with his only two goals for the club coming in the Europa League.
The 24-year-old striker joined Eintracht Frankfurt on loan in January and has been extremely impressive in Germany, with four goals and an assist to his name in 12 appearances.
It is revealed that Spurs and Aston Villa are both looking for a ‘creative striker’ and could turn their attention to Kalimuendo, who Forest are ready to sell for around €30m to €35m (£26m-£30.2m) this summer.
Spurs’ move for Kalimuendo may depend on Eintracht Frankfurt’s fortunes
There is one stumbling block in Tottenham’s pursuit of the striker, with Fussball Daten revealing that Frankfurt’s loan agreement for Kalimuendo includes a €27m (£23.3m) option to buy the player in the summer.
The Bundesliga club are expected to activate the option to buy the striker from Forest this summer, should they qualify for Europe, especially the Champions League.
Frankfurt, who are currently sitting in 7th place in the Bundesliga, 12 points off RB Leipzig in 4th, are thought to be preparing a contract offer for Kalimuendo worth €3m (£2.6m) per year.
