Tudor believes draw was fair result in Juventus-Milan: “Tough, against a strong team”

Juventus coach Igor Tudor reflected on a ‘tough match’ against a ‘strong’ AC Milan side, claiming it was the kind of game he expected.

There are no doubts about who will come away feeling more regrets from the stalemate, as Milan really should have scored at least once to take the full share of the spoils from Turin.

Christian Pulisic missed a penalty in the second half as he lifted it over the bar, then Rafael Leao also sent a sitter wide after coming off the bench, before squandering another good opportunity in the closing stages.

The winning streak becomes an unbeaten one for the Rossoneri, who fall to third place after Napoli and Roma both won, though the run after the round one loss to Cremonese remains a positive one.

Tudor spoke to DAZN moments after the full-time whistle last night to give his assessments as Juve’s unbeaten run continued in the league, with MilanNews transcribing his words.

What kind of game was it?

“It was a match as we expected. Tough, against a strong team. We took a point in the end. We wanted to win, we created things, they created things, and in the end, a draw is a realistic outcome, let’s say.”

What did you think of Yidiz?

“In our style of football, he finds the solution himself, with Cambiaso either moving into the middle or pushing forward. In the first half, we did some interesting things in their area, in a well-organised environment.”

Why did you change things?

“He looked tired to me, as did Conceiçao and David. They’ve played a lot of games, it’s not easy to always be fresh. In the end, we also covered better with three midfielders. We wanted to do better with two forwards, but unfortunately we didn’t score.”

Is there a solution with two forwards and Yildiz behind?

“I’m thinking about it. I have to find something that works for them and for me too. Let’s see, we can even try it during the match, when the game is breaking down. I like to practice the game, not just change the system. This 3-5-2, about twenty minutes… That’s fine, that’s fine.”

Are you satisfied with this month and a half?

“With two more goals, we would have had two more wins; it would have been perfect. This way, there’s a little less, but I have to focus on my work and stay close to the boys. We’ll always be on top of things.”
