AC Milan head coach Massimiliano Allegri is evaluating who should be the final piece of the midfield jigsaw against Torino.

As Tuttosport (via MilanNews) reports this morning, tomorrow evening against Torino, Allegri knows he will certainly be without Youssouf Fofana in midfield, who has been sidelined in recent days with a muscle problem.

After missing the Coppa Italia match against Lazio, the Frenchman will also be absent from the away match against the Granata, where the Rossoneri have won just once in their last 12 matches in the Piedmontese capital.

The favourite

So who will replace Fofana? According to the paper, Samuele Ricci and Ruben Loftus-Cheek are in contention. The former is currently the slight favourite to start in the right mezzala role, alongside Luka Modric and Adrien Rabiot.

Compared to Thursday’s Coppa Italia defeat to Lazio, Matteo Gabbia will return to the three-man defence, while Davide Bartesghi will regain his left wing-back role, which means Pervis Estupinan will drop out.

There’s also news in attack, where – for only the second time this season – Allegri will field his starting pairing of Rafael Leao and Christian Pulisic. The two played together in the derby, but the American was then forced to sit out the league match against Lazio with a muscle issue.
