Massimiliano Allegri has one aim with AC Milan: to win. However, he will also need to create an identity for his team, and could look to history.

Creating a winning team does not happen overnight, unfortunately. There needs to be an identity to the team, to the players, and to the club. In recent years, that has been lacking from Milan, who have regularly shifted.

Now, Allegri wants to change this. It is an idea which has been widely discussed in recent months by the press and fans. However, it is clear that this is not just whispers now.

Allegri’s plan

This morning’s edition of Tuttosport (via MilanNews) puts focus on the profiles of Matteo Gabbia and Samuele Ricci. Both are still viewed as kids of football, but at 25 and 23, respectively, they are more than ready to step into larger roles. Which Gabbia showed yesterday, arriving even before the new coach.

Past that, both have already shown that they are capable of such a job.

Samuele Ricci Milanello

It extends past them, though. Allegri is keen to strengthen the Italian core in the Rossoneri, restoring the ‘tradition’ of the club. Whether it will be in-house remains to be seen, but if Allegri is convinced by the idea, routes to Lorenzo Lucca and/or Mateo Retegui could heat up.

A new DNA is expected, but it could just be a revival of the Milan DNA.
