Tuttosport: Big-name renewals – Modric and Pulisic among five stars Milan want to extend

4 days ago 14

AC Milan are thinking about the future of the squad, and their first move is to tie down the key pillars of the squad.

Amid talk of a late bid for Jean-Philippe Mateta and a €30m deal being close, Tuttosport (via MN24) report this morning that the Milan management also have lots of meetings scheduled with agents to discuss renewals.

Maignan, then who?

The first name on the list is Mike Maignan. The French goalkeeper is a charismatic leader and is considered one of the best in the world for his reflexes and ability to build from the back. The good news is that he is now close to signing, something that seemed unthinkable weeks ago.

Once the goalkeeper is secured, it will be Ruben Loftus-Cheek’s turn. The English midfielder is seen as a crucial part of the midfield rotation, with Allegri a big fan of him because of his size and versatility, so a new deal is on the cards.

Things will not stop there. Fikayo Tomori is another player that has risen to prominence under the new coach, and his contract will be discussed. Strahinja Pavlovic has won everyone over after a shaky first season, and Premier League clubs are sniffing, so the directors want to act.

It goes without saying that Christian Pulisic’s future will have to be discussed. The American remains absolutely vital to the Rossoneri, but his natural contract expiry is at the end of next season. There is a club option to extend until 2028, but new terms – including a well-earned pay rise – seem likely.

Finally, the question of Luka Modric remains open. The Croatian will have the final say on his own fate. It will be the player himself who decides whether to stay in Milan for another season or embark on a new path, strengthened by the unconditional respect of the entire club.
