With Mike Maignan heading away from AC Milan as each day passes, the club are looking at replacements actively.
Whilst Maignan will not leave until the summer, if things continue as they currently are, there still needs to be an early scouting process for a replacement. After all, he could be gone as early as January, with clubs able to negotiate pre-contracts.
So, if Milan have a target in mind, they can lay foundations before others, and move before they are left without a first-choice ‘keeper.
The key to the future?
The work, so far, has been extensive, and several names have been linked to the position, with the deadlock over the Frenchman’s future only continuing. What is known is that the Rossoneri want a young shot-stopper, ready for first-team action.
Of course, this could be several names, but one of the primary ideas is Zion Suzuki, the Japanese goalkeeper playing for Parma. As Tuttosport (via RadioRossonera) reports, the Diavolo are very keen on him, and have even begun actively watching his games in person.
This weekend, in fact, Geoffrey Moncada was present as he saved a late penalty against Genoa, keeping the scoreline level. However, it will not be an easy mission. Chelsea and other Premier League clubs are sniffing, as are clubs in Italy.
