Adriano Galliani will not be making a return to AC Milan despite the reports floating around in recent months.
Since the middle of summer, Galliani has been heavily linked with a return to Milan. The former CEO spent 31 years at the club and is greatly appreciated by the fans, while few have his knowledge of Italian football.
Matteo Moretto is among the sources that claimed Galliani’s Milan comeback is only a matter of time. The journalist spoke of a verbal pact being in place with Gerry Cardinale – the owner of Milan – and that things would get moving when Monza’s sale was complete. Then, it all went quiet.
Returning no more
According to Tuttosport (via Calciomercato.com), Galliani will not have another spell at Milan, barring sensational developments in 2026. He has received an offer from FIFA President Gianni Infantino, who wants him at his side.
The paper also suggest that Fiorentina are dreaming of trying to tempt Galliani into a role with them, but it seems as though FIFA is the most likely destination.
Galliani actually spoke in an interview with Tuttosport this morning, and responded to a question about Milan winning the Scudetto and Monza winning promotion.
“Tell me where I have to sign and I’ll do it immediately! It would be fantastic. They are the two teams of my life. Ten years at Monza as a boy, then 31 at Milan and another 7 at Monza: they are and always will be my two favourite teams.”
