The hypothesis of a swap deal between AC Milan and Juventus involving a midfielder and a defender has reportedly emerged.
According to Tuttosport, Juventus had a meeting involving the directors and the head coach Luciano Spalletti in which the coach expressed his needs. One of them is to sign a versatile central midfielder, and there are some ideas floating about.
Swap deal possible?
In the last few hours, the idea of an exchange with Milan has been circulating, one which would see Ruben Loftus-Cheek head to Juventus with Federico Gatti coming the other way. It is a deal that would have to be two loans until the end of the season, the paper adds.
The two clubs are considering it, the two players are considering it, and the two coaches are also considering it, the most convinced of all to move in this direction. Starting with Juve, Spalletti’s point is crystal clear: he is a long-time admirer of Loftus-Cheek, even from his time at Napoli.
Loftus-Cheek meanwhile would have been keen on reuniting with Maurizio Sarri but did not approve of joining Lazio. He wants to play more, Allegri appreciates him, but the midfield is far too crowded and there aren’t many opportunities.

The former Chelsea man desperately wants to go to the World Cup. Between now and June, he must convince Tuchel to bring him to the United States. It’s no easy task, and at Juve there is a better chance of getting a starting spot.
Then there is Gatti. Turning 28 on June 24, he’s returning from the meniscus injury that forced him to undergo surgery in early December. Next week, he’ll train with the team, focusing on the trip to Cagliari.
His central role in the Bianconeri’s plan isn’t there any more. Allegri ‘desperately needs Gatti’ to strengthen his defence and would welcome him back with open arms after spending part of his second spell at Juventus alongside Federico.
Gatti also wants to go to the World Cup, presuming Italy qualify. A few days ago, Milan attempted a move for Gatti, only to receive a firm no from Juve regarding a swap deal with Koni De Winter. With Loftus-Cheek on the table, things could change.
