Mike Maignan’s future has been an anxiety-inducing situation for many at AC Milan. However, there is light shining through the tunnel.
Since the summer, maybe before that, it has seemed like Maignan was going to leave Milan. Contract offers were not really considered, and with him reportedly asking to leave the club when Chelsea came knocking, it seemed like the ordeal was heading towards one ending.
However, to their credit, Milan never gave in. In fact, reports state that pressure has been relentless from Igli Tare and Massimiliano Allegri.
Whether it be in public settings or at Milanello, the pair have both tried to push him towards extending his current deal, rather than letting him slip through the cracks as many feared.
Now, positive feelings are emerging and answers could be given soon.
Allegri’s through ball to Tare and Furlani
Tuttosport, this morning, reports that this month, discussions will be ramped up. Finally, the goalkeeper has opened to a renewal, thanks to the offer submitted towards the end of 2025.
There has certainly been a coldness to negotiations, due to the second offer which the Rossoneri gave the Frenchman last season. However, Allegri stepped in and ‘won him over’, making him the captain in his first month.
Additionally, praise must be given to Claudio Filippi, who ‘took care of the rest’, hence why his level has improved once more.

As a result of this, Tare and Giorgio Furlani’s jobs were made much easier. It is not a done deal, and the ball remains in Maignan’s court. However, there is optimism, and that would not be present without positive signs.
A meeting is expected to take place this week, potentially as early as today. From there, things will be clearer.
