The departure of Alex Jimenez late in the window has left AC Milan a bit light on the flanks, and a name is already circulating ahead of January.
Among the unresolved issues left after the summer transfer window for Milan is the investment in a reliable right-back, ready to start immediately and allowing Massimiliano Allegri to continue using the four-man defence that he reportedly wanted to use.
An idea for the winter
According to Tuttosport (via Calciomercato.com), Arnau Martinez is the player to keep an eye on for the start of 2026. Martinez came through the youth ranks of Barcelona and then Girona, where he subsequently established himself as a reliable first team option.
His 169 appearances, nine goals and 18 assists demonstrate his attacking prowess, combined with his pace that is very useful in both phases. He’s a player with plenty of room for improvement, but he’s already made his international debut for both Spain U21s and in the Champions League last season.
With Miguel Gutierrez leaving on the opposite flank for Napoli, Girona couldn’t bring themselves to let another full-back leave, despite interest from Milan, Antonio Conte’s Napoli and Juventus. His contract expires in June 2027 and his value is in the range of €15-20m.
