The signing of Robert Lewandowski in January is something AC Milan can almost rule out, but the groundwork is being laid for the summer.
After Luka Modric, Milan are considering adding another leader to the squad with great experience in Lewandowski, whose contract with Barcelona expires on June 30th. The Catalan club have the option to renew his deal for another year, but it seems the player will make the call.
Lewandowski: Milan’s 2026 summer target
According to Tuttosport (via MilanNews), given the difficulties of Santiago Gimenez Milan will sign a new centre-forward in the coming months, perhaps even in the winter. However, it will not be Lewandowski in January, because he wants to see out his contract in Spain.
There will be a better chance in June, but obviously the Pole would have to meet the Rossoneri’s financial parameters. The contacts with his agent Pini Zahavi – who brought another of his clients, Christopher Nkunku, to Milan this summer – are no coincidence.
In short, the road is far from easy, but the Diavolo will make an attempt. Having another role model in the dressing room besides Modric next season, when the Rossoneri hope to return to the Champions League, could be crucial.
Furthermore, Lewandowski even at 37 is still scoring consistently and would solve another problem for Milan, who lack a true striker in their squad.
