AC Milan are looking for a central defender in view of the January window, and two Sassuolo stars are reportedly on their list.

If Milan want to fight for the Scudetto until the end, they need some reinforcements in January because the squad is too small. In this first half of the season already, there have been injuries that have seen the already thin depth quickly evaporated.

One area in need of strengthening is undoubtedly the defensive department, where the only alternative to the three regular starters – Fikayo Tomori, Matteo Gabbia, and Strahinja Pavlovic – is Koni De Winter. David Odogu is also in the squad, but has barely been used and could leave on loan.

In addition to the idea of Thiago Silva – who is currently more of a suggestion than a concrete option – Milan have set their sights on two players who are making their mark with Sassuolo: Tarik Muharemovic and Jay Idzes.

On Saturday, during Sassuolo-Fiorentina, a Rossoneri scout was present in the stands at the MAPEI Stadium, to get a close-up look at the pair. Muharemovic, who also scored against Fiorentina, is a key figure in the Neroverdi defence.

Inter are also interested in him, not to mention that Juventus will get 50% of the proceeds from a potential resale. As for Idzes, Milan has been following him since his time at Venezia, who sold him to Sassuolo this summer.
