AC Milan are among the clubs keen on Diego Mascardi, a goalkeeping talent who is currently playing for Spezia in Serie B.
Now that the summer window has closed, the topic of renewals has once again come to the forefront. Pessimism is filtering out regarding Mike Maignan, which has seen Milan linked with Zion Suzuki as a potential replacement, plus the idea of promoting Lorenzo Torriani.
A new name
According to Tuttosport (via PianetaMilan), Milan could potentially try to sign Diego Mascardi, a highly-rated 18-year-old keeper who is currently playing for Spezia. He came through the academy with the Ligurian club, which is where Christiam Comotto was sent on loan.
The young Italian began the season as a starter for the Aquile in the Coppa Italia and Serie B. According to the paper, Milan are very interested in Mascardi and are monitoring him closely.

Fiorentina and Napoli are also interested in him though, so there is competition already. With his contract running until June 2028, he could be the surprise name that attracts the attention of domestic clubs next summer.
However, it is unclear whether the teenager would be seen as Maignan’s possible replacement, or if he instead would be seen as another option for the future.
