Tuttosport: Milan pursuing two Italian centre-backs – loan with option sought

AC Milan are looking at two Italian options for the centre-back position, according to a report, but neither will be easy to sign.

Milan’s defensive record has been one of their strengths so far this season, but the general consensus is that there is a lack of depth and experience in the department. So, a signing is being sought in January, one that might potentially allow a loan for David Odogu who is struggling for minutes.

Two names to work on

According to Tuttosport, the primary option that the management are looking for is a loan with an option to buy, and this formula will dictate the timing and opportunities that will arise in the transfer market between now and February 2nd.

Diego Coppola – a 22-year-old at Brighton, formerly of Verona – hasn’t found much playing time in the Premier League. The entire management are in agreement he would be a good addition, but the problem is that Brighton must open to a loan with option. Fiorentina, Genoa and Torino are also keen, but Coppola would prefer Milan.

Federico Gatti’s name might resurface in the coming weeks, but that will depend on Luciano Spalletti’s consolidation of the defensive hierarchy. He seems to be someone Massimiliano Allegri would welcome. On the topic of renewals, the Rossoneri are also working on extending Fikayo Tomori’s deal.
