AC Milan have been linked with a surprise loan move for struggling Juventus striker Jonathan David by a report in the Italian media.
Milan certainly have their problems up front, with both Santiago Gimenez and Christopher Nkunku having not yet scored a goal in Serie A, despite the fact that over €70m combined was invested to sign them from Feyenoord and Chelsea respectively.
There is a lot of speculation surrounding Gimenez in particular. It was no secret in the summer window that the management were entertaining the idea of selling him and signing a striker, and while he struggles for form that noise is growing in volume.
An old flame rekindled
According to this morning’s edition of Tuttosport, Jonathan David ‘could become the kind of transfer opportunity Milan can’t pass up’. The Canadian striker’s potential is well-known, and director Igli Tare is reportedly starting to timidly evaluate him ahead of the upcoming winter window.
Having been demoted to Dusan Vlahovic’s deputy in the Juventus hierarchy, David and his entourage are looking around, as he has no intention of continuing like this. Milan could be a solution and an option, especially since the Rossoneri have followed him since his time at Lille.

The source adds that Massimiliano Allegri likes David a lot, more than Gimenez. The new Milan coach had had expressed his doubts about the Mexican in the summer, asking for Dusan Vlahovic. In the end Gimenez stayed, and the Rossoneri chose to gamble on Nkunku, who is still struggling.
Everything will depend on Santiago Gimenez. Despite the fact that his future at Milan remains very much up in the air, if the Rossoneri fail to find a place for him in January, it can be ruled out that another striker will arrive.
Milan, Chelsea and Tottenham are reportedly inquiring about a loan deal for David, but Juve must open up to the idea. Much will obviously depend on Luciano Spalletti ‘s final decision, but the change in head coach could lead to dramatic developments.
