Tuttosport: Milan to scout potential Maignan heir in Parma game – Chelsea also lurking

AC Milan will want to put a few goals past Zion Suzuki in Parma on Saturday, but paradoxically him performing well could be beneficial too.

As Tuttosport (via MilanNews) report this morning, Milan’s aim tomorrow is simply to bring home three valuable points before the final international break of 2025 commences. Igli Tare and Geoffrey Moncada will be watching on, and they won’t just be observing their own players.

Maignan’s heir?

Mike Maignan will leave Milan at the end of the season, barring any major surprises. His contract expires on 30 June 2026, while negotiations over a renewal have been stalled for months and are unlikely to resume, even if there is talk of one last attempt to convince him to stay.

Thus, the Rossoneri will have to search for his successor in the coming months. Among the players being monitored is Suzuki, who has had a good season so far with Parma. The Japan international is admired because of his modern way of playing the role, his mentality and his athleticism.

His talents haven’t gone unnoticed in the Premier League, particularly in London, where Chelsea have already made enquiries. The goalkeeper arrived in Emilia-Romagna in the summer of 2024 from Saint-Truiden for €8.2m plus bonuses and a 10% cut of any future transfer fee.

He has quite clear ideas about his future: he’ll leave Parma only to join a team that will guarantee him a starting spot. As for his transfer fee, it’s said his value has tripled since he arrived in Italy, so he is worth over €24m.

Parma have shown with the summer sales of Ange-Yoan Bonny to Inter, Giovanni Leoni to Liverpool and Simon Sohm to Fiorentina that everyone has a price, and Tare might sit down soon to find out what it is.
