Tuttosport: One out, two in – busy January still possible for Milan with multiple tables open

1 day ago 26

Just like they were last year, AC Milan could be one of the busiest Italian clubs when it comes to doing January business.

This morning’s edition of Tuttosport (via MilanNews) asks the question: what if Niclas Fullkrug isn’t AC Milan’s only new attacking signing in the winter mercato? It’s a difficult scenario but ‘not impossible’ scenario to imagine, but it would require another exit.

The main candidate is Christopher Nkunku, who continues to be in Fenerbahçe’s sights. The Turkish club are pressing hard and show no intention of giving up, even though – at least for now – the Frenchman seems intent on staying at Milanello.

Should Nkunku be persuaded and should an adequate offer arrive, Milan would then be ‘forced’ to sign a new striker. One name they’re particularly interested in is Sidiki Cherif, a teenager who is rising to stardom with Angers in Ligue 1.

Milan’s scouts have watched him in person on several occasions in recent weeks, and the reports are overwhelmingly positive. The initial plan was to try and sign him in the summer, but the deal could be pushed forward a few months if Nkunku leaves.

There’s plenty of competition, with several German clubs eyeing him, but the idea of a move to Milan is highly intriguing for the young striker. His agents already met with management in mid-December too, so the groundwork has been laid.

Defence chapter

While the possible arrival of a new attacking addition will depend on Nkunku’s departure, Milan are certainly looking for a new defender to shore up the defence, and this area does not rely on a sale first.

Massimiliano Allegri’s favourite is still Federico Gatti, who he launched at Juventus. The Bianconeri have already said no to a swap deal involving Koni De Winter, and are likely to demand a large cash sum to sell to a rival.

It is almost impossible to land Milan Skriniar from Fenerbahçe and Kim Min-jae from Bayern Munich because of their status and cost respectively. In the last few hours Eric Dier of Monaco has been offered to Milan, but it remains to be seen if they are tempted.
