Tuttosport: ‘Operation Kean’ – Milan outline strategy to land striker Allegri sees as perfect

We may be a few months away from the transfer window reopening, but AC Milan are already plotting their attempt for Moise Kean.

Milan came very close to signing the striker for the future towards the end of the winter mercato. Jean-Philippe Mateta looked all set to be joining, but the move collapsed at the final hurdle with the Frenchman failing a medical.

Shifting targets

This morning, Tuttosport (via MN24) have put forward the name that Massimiliano Allegri considers a safe bet: Moise Kean. Despite a more difficult season with Fiorentina, the Italian ‘remains a constant’ in the head coach’s mind having watched him grow and make his debut at Juventus.

A Milan scout was present in the stands for Fiorentina’s 2-2 draw with Torino over the weekend, with a specific task: to watch Kean closely. The newspaper’s headline is unequivocal: ‘Operation Kean, AC Milan are spying on him’. He scored in that game too, just before the hour mark.

Kean has a €62m release clause in his contract. However, Igli Tare and the management’s plan is clear: not to pay the clause, but to open direct negotiations with La Viola. Fiorentina’s position, currently battling to avoid relegation, could play in the Rossoneri’s favour.

If they were to do the unthinkable (fall to Serie B) or fail to finish a bit higher up the table, the Tuscan club would almost certainly be forced to negotiate the sale of their star centre-forward for a more reasonable fee than the clause.

For Allegri, Moise Kean represents the perfect fit: physically strong, good at attacking the space in behind, and an already thorough understanding of the his instructions. He would be the ideal gift ahead of a potential Champions League return.
