Tuttosport: Over 39,000km – why Allegri will worry about Pulisic and Gimenez again

Massimiliano Allegri will once again have to worry about the condition of his two current starting forwards, Santiago Gimenez and Christian Pulisic.

As Tuttosport (seen below) write this morning, Pulisic and Gimenez will each go on another long trip as they do each international break. The two Milan forwards will fly a total of more than 39,000km combined, which must be a worry for Allegri ahead of next Sunday’s game against Fiorentina.

This is split between the American’s 18,800km (Milan to Austin to Denver and back to Milan) and the Mexican’s more than 20,000km (Milan to Dallas to Guadalajara and back to Milan). They will arrive in Italy next Thursday, but their condition is not yet known.

Allegri has made Pulisic and Gimenez his starting two forwards, partly due to Rafael Leao and Christopher Nkunku not being in the best condition. Four of the seven matches so far this season have started with those two up front, and the results have been positive.

It’s difficult to predict how the two will return from their overseas trip, but it’s clear they’ll need to be managed. The hope is that Leao returns to Milanello motivated and energised after his commitments against Portugal, thus providing a ready-made attacking partner.

The same goes for Nkunku, who is currently away with the French national team after Didier Deschamps called him back up. So far, he’s only started against Lecce, so he’ll also get his chance.
