Tuttosport: Six matches in 23 days – which Milan players should get more opportunities

In the next month, AC Milan have a hectic schedule and Massimiliano Allegri will probably need to rotate his team slightly in order to manage minutes.

Already this season, Milan have certainly had issues with shifting the team around. Whether due to injuries or poor form, questions have been asked about some of the mainstays of the team. Ultimately, though, if no one is there to replace them, you are a bit stuck.

It is one of the issues of having a small squad, but it can also motivate you to work for your teammates more.

Rotation game

Regardless of whether it is down to bad form or not, playing six times in 23 days is a massive ask, and Allegri will have to rotate his team to keep them at their best levels, as Tuttosport writes, via MilanWorld.

Rafael Leao’s return will not be a dive into the deep end, so opportunities could arise for Christopher Nkunku and Niclas Fullkrug, who both will be looking to make themselves key in the next month. However, it is not the main focus for rotation.

In fact, as one may expect, it will hinge on the midfield, and Luka Modric will be managed carefully, ‘considering his age’. Ardon Jashari and Samuele Ricci, then, could be the main beneficiaries of this. However, they will not be alone.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Youssouf Fofana will also be key, with them set to ‘alternate constantly’. Massimiliano Allegri has already said that everyone will be important in the next few months, and January will be the first sign of that.
