Tuttosport: Tare could reunite with Lazio defender in January as Milan continue search

Igli Tare is reportedly keen on reuniting with Mario Gila at AC Milan, having brought the Spanish defender to Lazio back in 2022.

Milan failed to sign a centre-back in the final days of the transfer window, excluding the youngster David Odogu, and it’s believed they could make a new attempt in January. Indeed, playing with a three-man backline, any injury would make things a little difficult.

Currently, Milan ‘only’ have Koni De Winter as a deputy for the three-man backline, which the management isn’t entirely comfortable with. The sporting director Igli Tare has already started looking around and could try to reunite with a Spaniard.

Tare suggests Gila signing

As reported by Tuttosport this morning (via MilanNews), Milan will indeed try to sign a centre-back in January. Joe Gomez, who was one of the key targets in the summer, remains on their list but Tare has also brought up another player: Mario Gila.

Tare signed the centre-back from Real Madrid’s B-team back in 2022 and now, he’s regarded as a key player in Lazio’s defence. Convincing the Biancocelesti to sell thus might not be the easiest thing, while Inter are also keeping tabs on the 25-year-old.

In any case, the centre-back search has started and Milan will assess their options once we get closer to January. For now, Max Allegri has to rely on De Winter and Davide Bartesaghi as the only deputies at the back.
