There has been a lot of talks about Adriano Galliani’s potential return to AC Milan, but now the moment of truth is arriving.
As Tuttosport (via MilanNews) report this morning, Galliani is used to generating a buzz at the end of August when the summer window enters it final days. This time, though, the attention is fixed around what will happen at the end of September into October.
If all goes as planned, the closing of Monza’s sale from Fininvest to Beckett Layne Ventures – an American fund managed by Brandon Berger – will take place in one week. With the change of ownership, the current CEO will also depart, ready to return to Milan.
Comeback season
Galliani has had several contacts with Gerry Cardinale in recent months. The owner, after the suggestion from Zlatan Ibrahimovic , has considered including him in the RedBird Capital world in some capacity.
A few days ago Galliani tried to play down his return, but those were likely just words of convenience as the deal with Monza must first be finalised. Milan are waiting for him, especially some figures close to his heart such as Ibrahimovic, who pushed hard for his return.

Massimiliano Allegri will also be present, with whom ‘Il Condor’ has had an excellent relationship. It was in fact Galliani’s intuition that brought Max in when he first took charge in the summer of 2010, winning a Scudetto in his first season.
What role will Galliani have? Like the Swede, he isn’t expected to be part of the club’s organisational structure, but will be linked to RedBird. He will therefore be a super-consultant to the owners, with his advice and expertise being key.
He is also crucially expected to handle sporting matters, supporting president Paolo Scaroni in Lega Serie A with representation. In recent weeks, he has also been linked with a role as Head of Football, meaning he would also be in contact with Allegri’s first team.
Mauro Bianchessi – the chief scout at Milan from 2007 to 2017 – could also return to the club, possibly joining the Milan Futuro side of things. The documents are ready, and the signatures will arrive after the change of ownership to Monza. The days of Il Condor are drawing near.
