Tuttosport: Two aces up the sleeve – the added weapons for Allegri against Juventus

Massimiliano Allegri has decided on the front two that will start against Juventus, and it means there will be a couple of aces up his sleeve.

After returning to the pitch against Napoli one week ago, many were convinced that Rafael Leao could be back in the starting line-up against Juventus. Barring any big surprises on the day of the game, that won’t be the case.

The Portuguese forward – as Massimiliano Allegri admitted in yesterday’s press conference – is improving and has worked intensely at Milanello this week, but it still seems too early to see him back in the starting lineup.

As Tuttosport (via MilanNews) report this morning, Allegri then added that last Sunday against Napoli the idea was to bring him on a few minutes later, but Pervis Estupinan’s sending off changed his plans somewhat.

Tonight against Juventus, Leao will start on the bench, as will Christopher Nkunku. The duo will be the aces up Allegri’s sleeve, and he reiterates in every press conference that in football today, substitutions are often more important than starting players. Both, with their quality and pace, are players capable of breaking games open.

Milan are on a good run and the coach has no intention of changing the formation at the moment, either. Leao is behind Gimenez in the pecking order at present, and the feeling is that he will remain so until he’s 100% fit again.
