Tuttosport: Two close, one froze – how Milan are progressing with renewal talks

1 day ago 24

There are several renewals in the works at AC Milan. However, there are no signings done just yet. Time remains for some, though.

Right now, there are whispers of three renewals in the works, and each makes sense, really. Those, of course, include Mike Maignan, Christian Pulisic and Alexis Saelemaekers. However, the situations are different, at least in one case.

Closed… for now

As Tuttosport (via MilanNews) write this morning, the ‘thorniest’ case is that of Maignan’s renewal. His contract expires at the end of June, and talks are currently at a standstill. Milan were the party that ended talks a few months ago.

Now, they are desperately trying to restart them, but the Frenchman has not given any signs just yet, with things stalling. In fact, the report states that things ‘will not be easy to mend’, which is a really frustrating situation. More so, considering he was ready to extend. New attempts will be made, but right now, the hopes are small.

Certainties

Then, there are the cases of Pulisic and Saelemaekers, both of whom are definitely more likely to extend with the club. Starting with the American, he originally opened to talks, but closed during the summer mercato.

Now, though, things are back on, and the hopes are to close a deal quickly, with a 2029 deal lined up. Within that agreement would be a pay rise, seeing him go from €4 million to €5m per season.

There are no issues with the Belgian’s renewal either. A 2029 extension is likely, though the option of a 2030 contract could also be discussed. Doubts are non-existent in this case, with it seeming more like a case of when, than if.

Elsewhere, the deals and futures of Fikayo Tomori and Ruben Loftus-Cheek are likely to be discussed in the next few months. Their deals expire in 2027, so there is no rush.
