Tuttosport: Vlahovic to Milan ‘not over yet’ – how the Juventus striker could still arrive

There is a chance that Victor Boniface might not actually be competing for a spot with Santiago Gimenez but with Dusan Vlahovic, a report claims.

According to this morning’s edition of Tuttosport (via MilanNews), Boniface’s arrival doesn’t rule out the arrival of another striker. In recent days, the name of Conrad Harder has been linked, but it seems that he is heading for Stade Rennais.

Vlahovic after all?

Massimiliano Allegri, meanwhile, has only one player in mind: Vlahovic. The arrival of a top-class striker like Boniface may have put an end to this possibility, but the feeling is that things could continue until the end of this transfer window after more than three months of courtship.

So, contrary to what one might believe, it is ‘not over’ between Vlahovic and Milan. That being said, the fact that – given the complicated pursuit – the Rossoneri decided to focus on Boniface and not the Serbian speaks volumes.

The issue is simple: in these months of constant contact, Milan never found the key to deeming the deal financially viable, both in terms of Vlahovic’s salary demands (he gets €12m net per year at Juventus) and in terms of the Bianconeri’s demands for his transfer fee.

There’s a ‘but’ in this whole story, and it goes by the name of Santiago Gimenez. The Mexican isn’t Allegri’s quintessential striker, which is why – faced with an offer of at least €30m – he could leave. At that point, the money would be there to grant Allegri’s wish.
