AC Milan were harshly dealt with this weekend when VAR overturned a penalty, awarded after Christopher Nkunku was fouled.
It is nothing new for officials to make mistakes in games. However, when the team and coach are affected by it, it hurts. So, with Massimiliano Allegri suspended for correctly being frustrated about a wrong decision, the team are in a difficult position.
Had there been no mistake, there would not have been a reaction from the Italian. As a result of it, though, he is going to miss some time on the sideline.
Voiceless
Last year, it was Paulo Fonseca, and the potential return of Adriano Galliani has called for him to make a noise about the decisions against Milan. However, reports now suggest that his return may not be as likely as it once seemed.
Regardless of who it is at the club, someone needs to make some noise, and Antonio Vitiello wrote an editorial piece on the matter for MilanNews.
“We begin with the refereeing blunders, then move on to the gross and embarrassing errors. The penalty awarded and then revoked for Milan at the end of the match against Bologna is paranormal. Lucumì’s red card was a clear sign, and the Rossoneri were awarded a penalty. But nothing. Allegri loses his temper on the bench and goes berserk.

“The Milan coach is sent off for a penalty that was clearly in his team’s favour. Someone at the club should start raising their voices, even in the media, because in the appropriate forums, it’s become clear that nothing is changing.
“The Rossoneri have been mistreated for years; last season, both Fonseca and Conceiçao attempted to raise the issue but were overwhelmed by the negative results. Their words carried little weight. This year, let’s hope the music is different. More respect for AC Milan.
