AC Milan have made versatility a big priority in their pursuit of a centre-back, as they also want the signing to be able to play in the wing-back role.
The first half of the season has been relatively successful for the Rossoneri, considering they are just one point behind city rivals Inter in the standings. That said, the exits from Coppa Italia and Supercoppa Italiana have highlighted that they severely lack quality depth.
As such, in the January window, the Rossoneri are looking to bolster the team with a striker and a centre-back. Niclas Füllkrug is more or less a done deal for the first position, but there is no top target for the other position yet.
Identikit emerges
According to Antonio Vitiello, Milan have made versatility one of the priorities in their pursuit. What this means is that they want a centre-back who can also play in the wing-back role, where the deputy Zachary Athekame has struggled a little.

Primarily, however, it would need to be a player who plays as a centre-back. The formula Milan are looking for is a loan, but they are also willing to spend a little if the costs are reasonable, so a permanent move cannot be ruled out either.
So far, no concrete names emerged but since the transfer windowe is fast approaching, we should now more very soon.
