Vitiello: What Allegri has demanded from his squad with ‘real Milan coming soon’

Massimiliano Allegri has made a demand of his players after they dropped more points, but the ‘real Milan’ is yet to come.

Saturday night’s game against Parma at the Stadio Ennio Tardini showed the two-faced nature of this Milan side. They played brilliantly for 40 minutes and went two goals up, but then let in a goal out of nowhere which inspired the home side to come out guns blazing in the second half and equalise.

Then, the Rossoneri woke up again and generated multiple huge chances to snatch it at the end. However, just like against Juventus and in other games this season, they were not taken and a point would have to do.

‘A questionable attitude’

Speaking in his weekly column for MilanNews, Antonio Vitiello took stock of things at Milan as we enter the final international break of the year, after a negative result at the Tardini.

“The draw against Parma was difficult to digest . The entire Milan team is disappointed to have squandered another two points, especially after suffering a comeback from Parma, who seemed literally knocked out in the first half,” he began.

“Instead, the Rossoneri gave the Ducali a chance to get back into the game with superficial errors, but above all with a questionable attitude. And this is where Allegri will have to work hardest. Because against the big teams, motivation comes automatically, but against the ‘smaller’ teams, you have to stay focused for ninety minutes, and that doesn’t always happen.

Pulisic and Saelemaekers misses

“It’s no coincidence that the Rossoneri dropped crucial points against Cremonese, Pisa, and Parma – especially in the last two, with a comeback. Allegri will have to work hard on the team’s mentality. He has asked the group to raise the bar and take that decisive step towards becoming a more aware team in managing the result and the difficult moments of the match.

“But soon we’ll see the real Milan. Because the last five games have been a crippled Milan. It’s not easy to play without Pulisic and Rabiot at the same time, and the numbers speak for themselves. With the two of them on the pitch, the Rossoneri won against Bologna, Udinese, Napoli, and drew with Juve.

“Three wins and a draw, averaging 2.5 points per game. Without Rabiot and Pulisic on the pitch together, the Rossoneri have achieved two wins against Fiorentina and Roma, and three draws against Pisa, Parma, and Atalanta. Their points average has dropped to 1.8 per game.”
