AC Milan needed 75 minutes to finally break down Lecce’s resistance, but they did so thanks to the super sub Niclas Füllkrug.
After a number of chances were spurned and Falcone provided some heroics inside the Lecce goal, Milan finally broke the deadlock. Matteo Gabbia picked out a run from Alexis Saelemaekers with a ball over the top, and he crossed for substitute Füllkrug to head in his first goal for the club.
It was a needed three points for the Rossoneri after their rivals at the top Inter and Napoli had both won 1-0 on Saturday. It means that Massimiliano Allegri’s men are three points off first place, but they have opened up a seven-point gap to fifth place.
