In their second friendly, AC Milan bagged their first win of the pre-season, beating Liverpool by four goals to two. With so many goals scored, there is a good highlights reel to take a look at.
Milan headed into the clash with revenge on their minds, having lost the first pre-season friendly against Arsenal. Max Allegri fielded a very similar starting XI, making just two changes, but everything worked a lot better this time out.
Rafael Leao opened the scoresheet early on, making the most of a counter-attack, and Ruben Loftus-Cheek then restored the lead in the second half. It also came after a counter-attack, as did the third goal of the game (scored by Noah Okafor), and the fourth was a gift from Liverpool.
While it’s just a pre-season friendly, it’s certainly an important confidence boost for Milan as it shows they are on the right path. This is something Loftus-Cheek highlighted in his post-match press conference, while Allegri also praised the players for their attitude.
Perth Glory are up next for the Rossoneri, and compared to the first two games, there is an obvious drop in quality. Getting at least one win against the better sides is thus nice, easing some pressure from the players as they head to Australia.
