Watch: Maignan produces heroics to stop Lautaro and Calhanoglu penalty in derby win

AC Milan secured a huge Derby della Madonnina win over Inter at San Siro, and they have Mike Maignan to thank for his heroics.

The only goal of the game came early in the second half, with Alexis Saelemaekers firing a shot that Yann Sommer could only parry into the path of Christian Pulisic. He tucked in the rebound and Milan would go on to win 1-0, jumping above Inter and taking the points in yet another head-to-head clash.

Maignan made a phenomenal save eight minutes before the break to deny Lautaro a 10th derby goal. A Thuram knock-down was stabbed towards the bottom corner with the outside of the Argentine’s boot, yet the French goalkeeper somehow tipped it onto the post.

With just less than 20 minutes on the clock, Inter were given the chance to level from the spot as Pavlovic was deemed to have fouled Thuram. Maignan saved his last penalty against Paulo Dybala, and he kept out Calhanoglu too with a fantastic stop.
