‘We make mistakes’ – Allegri’s irate response to repeated referee questioning

This weekend, the AC Milan game was under more scrutiny again, with a referee decision being focused on heavily. 

In the dying moments of this weekend’s game, it seemed like Milan were going to lose three points due to a penalty decision. From the first glimpse, it looked really harsh, and even now, after seeing the incident a few times, you can argue either side.

Given Mike Maignan’s penalty record this season, maybe there would have been some confidence if it had been given. However, it was not, and the Rossoneri recorded another win and another clean sheet. Panic averted.

Allegri’s view on the referee talk

Since that initial decision, talk has been regular about the call, and whether it should or shouldn’t have been a spot kick and Massimiliano Allegri has been under the scope too, given he was sent off as a result of the decision.

He spoke to Rai, via Calciomercato.com, about the consistent questioning about the referee, rather than the game itself.

“If you always talk about the referees, you should start by taking the pressure off them. We’re talking about the match, and yet three questions have already been asked about the referee. We make mistakes, we make mistakes. This is one episode; the next is another episode. They’re always episodes.”
