Venezia’s sporting director has revealed that AC Milan made an attempt to sign midfielder Hans Nicolussi Caviglia.
Rewinding back to the end of May, when Tijjani Reijnders’ sale to Manchester City was just a matter of days away, Milan had to think about which players to choose in order to rebuild the midfield department.
The idea was to try to add some Italian names, something Igli Tare and Massimiliano Allegri both agreed on. Samuele Ricci is the player that ended up arriving, but Nicolussi Caviglia was linked by several sources after a good year with Venezia.
Offer rejected
Their relegation meant that hanging onto him was going to be difficult, and Milan did try to sign the young talent, but during the winter. Venezia’s sporting director Filippo Antonelli revealed the background to SportMediaset.

“We rejected an offer from Milan for him in January. Then came Viola, who are competing in European competitions,” he said (via MilanPress).
“I don’t know if holding onto the boy in the face of these offers would have been a good idea. I tried. It was a decision made with a strong will that could have penalised both us and the boy, so we accepted on our terms. We fought until the end to get the maximum.”
