West Ham left unimpressed by Tottenham’s Mohammed Kudus bid, but there is still hope

West Ham have rejected Tottenham’s opening offer for Mohammed Kudus, with the East London club said to be unimpressed by the structure and valuation of the bid.

We revealed a few weeks ago that Tottenham Hotspur were offered the opportunity to sign West Ham United forward Mohammed Kudus this summer.

The Lilywhites have since moved to land their new top target, Kudus, despite the winger’s somewhat subpar season, where he scored five goals and assisted three times in 32 Premier League appearances.

It was reported a few days ago that Spurs submitted an offer worth £50 million plus £5 million in add-ons for Kudus, a proposal that was swiftly turned down by the Hammers as it fell short of their valuation.

West Ham open to Mohammed Kudus sale but want improved Tottenham bid

Fresh reports from the Guardian have now relayed that West Ham United have been left unimpressed by Tottenham’s initial proposal for Mohammed Kudus.

It is understood that the Hammers have no intention of selling the 24-year-old winger for Tottenham’s early offer, as the £50 million plus £5 million deal to be paid over a five-year period, was deemed insufficient.

However, sources believe a deal could be done at £60m and West Ham need to sell in order to buy, to adhere to PSR rules.

While West Ham are said to be open to parting ways with Kudus for a fee below his £85 million release clause, which is only active for Premier League clubs in the first ten days of July, they have informed Spurs that their bid falls well short of expectations.

The publication further notes that West Ham would be willing to sanction Kudus’ departure if a proposal in the region of £60 million is put forward.

With the club needing to sell before they can buy, it is believed that West Ham have little flexibility due to the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules, which have placed limitations on their spending power.

Kudus remains West Ham’s most valuable asset and has drawn interest from Manchester United, Chelsea and Newcastle United. Reports suggest Chelsea have even floated the idea of a potential swap deal in discussions with the Hammers.

With other clubs firmly in the race for Kudus, Spurs are believed to be worried that they might miss out entirely on yet another top target this summer.
