Why Tottenham may not get the fee they wanted for Manor Solomon this summer

1 hour ago 28

A report has shed light on what Fiorentina are thinking about signing Manor Solomon permanently from Tottenham as his loan spell at the Serie A club comes to a close.

Manor Solomon was recalled from Villarreal and joined Fiorentina on loan in January after struggling for regular game time at the La Liga club in the first half of the season.

Fiorentina have a £8.7m option to buy Solomon permanently in the summer, and the winger has showcased glimpses of his quality since his move to the Artemio Franchi Stadium.

The 26-year-old has had his share of injury troubles since his move to Florence, scoring twice and producing one assist in 643 minutes of action for the club.

Fiorentina want to sign Manor Solomon on a discount from Tottenham

Solomon has missed a total of 10 matches for Fiorentina so far, and in his absence, Leeds loanee Jack Harrison has stepped up for the club over recent weeks.

Gazzetta dello Sport (as relayed by Sport Witness) has now revealed that manager Paolo Vanoli is a fan of the Tottenham man, with the Italian coach taking a liking to the winger’s pace and tenacity.

However, it is explained that there are ‘major doubts’ over Solomon’s fitness at the Viola, with the Israeli international yet to last the entire 90 minutes even once since his move to Italy.

As a result, it is suggested that Fiorentina see paying £8.7m as a gamble and are expected to seek a discount from Tottenham.

Could Solomon be an asset for Spurs next season if they go down?

Solomon arrived at Tottenham on a free transfer, and thus any fee that the Lilywhites receive for the winger will go down in their books as pure profit for PSR calculations.

However, the winger is one of the few players in Spurs’ books who has experience of Championship football, having impressed in the second tier for Leeds last season.

It will be interesting to see if De Zerbi’s men are tempted to hang on to the former Shakhtar Donetsk man if they do get relegated.
