This morning, Zachary Athekame was announced as the latest AC Milan signing, and he has posted a goodbye message to his former club.
Considering the situation at right-back, Milan needed to get a deal done for a new player quickly. Especially with the Rossoneri not having a single natural option in the senior set-up. Initially, it seemed like Guela Doue or Marc Pubill would arrive.
In the end, though, Athekame has been signed, and he arrives with bags of potential for the future. The Swiss defender, at just 20 years old, has played regularly for the senior team at Young Boys, whilst also featuring in the Champions League.
Athekame’s goodbye
After his move to Milan was confirmed by the club earlier today, the right-back has posted a message to his former club on Instagram, thanking them for their trust and support, as MilanPress relayed.
“Thank you, dear YB family.
You welcomed me with open arms from day one: on the pitch, in the locker room, and in the stands.
You shaped me, not only as a player, but also as a person.
Thank you for your trust, your support, and all the unforgettable moments at Wankdorf.
A new adventure calls me, but a part of me will always remain with you.”
