William Saliba delivers honest verdict on all eight Arsenal summer transfer deals

2 hours ago 1

William Saliba has delivered his verdict on all eight of Arsenal's new summer signings. The Frenchman has now reached a verbal agreement with the Gunners over a new five-year contract, which is set to be signed and formalised in due course.

The 24-year-old had been courted by Real Madrid but having supported Arsenal as a boy, Saliba feels the Emirates Stadium is the perfect place to continue his career as he targets major silverware. Mikel Arteta's marquee new arrivals will undoubtedly hold the key to the club's chances of winning trophies this term and Saliba has been speaking about his new team-mates during an interview with Sky Sports.

He was asked to describe young centre-back Cristhian Mosquera in one word, to which he replied: "Beast." He then continued: "He's good, he's good. He's got everything."

Saliba was then quizzed on Eberechi Eze, who bagged his first Arsenal goal on Wednesday night in the 2-0 Carabao Cup win at Port Vale. He said: "Technique! I've played a lot against him and now it's good to have him. He's a good buy, you can see that even before he came here."

The colossal defender was then asked about Noni Madueke, who recently picked up a knee injury. Saliba replied: "Electric! He takes the ball, he goes, he comes inside and can go outside." On Martin Zubimendi, Saliba said: "Clean, with the ball with his passing you can see he is from Spain."

The France international then spoke about Viktor Gyokeres, who he previously did battle with in the Champions League against Sporting CP last season. He said of the Gerd Muller Trophy winner when asked what he will bring to Arsenal: "Goals." Saliba then spoke about fellow defender Piero Hincapie: "I trained just one time with him but yeah, he's tough."

Christian Norgaard was up next and Saliba was very complimentary of the Dane, stating: "Class. Every time we played against Brentford, he was so, so good." Finally, Saliba shared his thoughts on goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga: "Wall! I've scored goals against him in training but it's still hard."

A host of Arsenal's summer arrivals have made flying starts at the Emirates. Mosquera, in particular, excelled in the absence of Saliba, who suffered an ankle problem during the warmup before the 1-0 defeat to Liverpool.

The Spaniard has since featured against Nottingham Forest, Athletic Bilbao in the Champions League and Port Vale, marshalling Arteta's side to three clean sheets.

Zubimendi recently struck a brace to down Forest while Swedish marksman Gyokeres already has three Premier League goals to his name after plundering a double against Leeds.

Madueke also dazzled while Bukayo Saka was sidelined but he is now facing time away from the pitch after suffering a knee injury against Manchester City.
